About Anna

Areas of expertise

I bring a broad range of experience and qualifications to my therapy practice, and devote considerable time to furthering my knowledge and skills. My therapeutic style is warm, sensitive and non-judgemental.

My clinical areas of interest include disordered eating and eating disorders, specialising in treatment for binge eating disorder, disordered eating and body image concerns. I also work with trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, loss, low self-esteem (and so much more!). I have a particular interest in offering therapy to fellow therapists, and find that many healthcare professionals are interested in the deeper therapeutic work fostered by an emotion-focused approach

I am a size-inclusive practitioner, and offer an anti-diet and weight-neutral approach to health and wellbeing, informed by Health at Every Size® principles. My passion for size-inclusive eating disorder care led to seven years of work with Body Positive Australia in Melbourne, co-facilitating the fabulous RIPE (Recovery is Possible for Everyone) group therapy program for adults struggling with binge eating disorder and bulima nervosa.

Why do I work as a counsellor and psychotherapist?

I chose this career as a result of my own life-changing experiences working with a psychotherapist.  My scientific background provides me with a strong grounding in research and evidence-based practice, while my empathic nature allows me to provide intuitive and sensitive counselling.

Qualifications and training

I hold multiple postgraduate counselling qualifications and am registered with the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA) and the Australian Counselling Association (ACA). As a registered counsellor, I work under the code of ethics of these associations.

I have international accreditation as an Emotion-Focused Therapist via the Australian Institute of Emotion-Focused Therapy (AIEFT).  I am also a verified provider member of Size Inclusive Health Australia, and a credentialed eating disorder clinician.  This credential provides formal recognition of the qualifications, knowledge, training and professional development needed to deliver safe and effective eating disorder treatment.

My qualifications include:
  • Master of Social Science (Human Services - Counselling), Swinburne University

  • Graduate Diploma of Genetic Counselling, The University of Melbourne

  • Doctor of Philosophy (Pathology), The University of Melbourne

  • Bachelor of Science (Hons), The University of Queensland
